Male Breast Reduction

Gynecomastia is a surprisingly common condition and affects up to 30% of men. The term is derived from a Greek word meaning "woman-like breasts". Men who are affected with Gynecomastia generally have enlarged female-type breasts that are caused by excess fatty and glandular tissues in the breast area. This condition can lead to depression and low self-esteem and devastating psychological effects who are self-conscious about their appearance. Although it’s a common condition, those affected tend to feel different from other men.
The causes of Gynaecomastia are unclear, but can be associated with obesity, hormonal metabolism imbalance, liver disease or other medical causes. Usually Gynaecomastia begins around the onset of puberty. It can lead to jokes and teasing, social anxiety and eventually men who prefer to keep their shirts on and avoid any social activities where they would be required to undress and frequently you may have asymmetrical breasts.

Surgical options available are:

1. Surgical removal of the excessive breast tissue as well as traditional liposuction under general anaesthesia – this often requires an overnight stay in hospital.
2. Only traditional liposuction which quite often require multiple operations under general anaesthesia with overnight stay in the hospital.
3. A new minimally invasive procedure VASER liposelection.
This is done under local anaesthesia and quicker to perform. The fat and breast tissue is melted with the ultrasonic technology, and then painlessly removed. Some men may need minor surgical excision of extra tissue, if this is necessary, you will be advised of this at your assessment which is carried out at the same time under local anaesthesia. The good news with Ultrasonic Liposuction is a little or no recovery down time, and the results are a firmer, flatter, more contoured chest which help to boost self-confidence. The VASER liposelection promotes collagen remodelling which gives a skin tightening affect. So the loose saggy skin get tighten up after the liquefied fat has been removed.

Safe, Fast Procedure with a Minimal Recovery Period

No hospitalisation is required, there are no major side effects, and recovery is very fast. However you should avoid sports or strenuous exercise for a few days, gradually building up to your previous levels over the following week.

Am I suitable for Male Breast Reduction by VASER Liposelection?

You should have realistic expectations about the procedure’s capabilities. While undergoing male breast reduction can improve your appearance and self-confidence, it won’t always match your mental ideal. The aim here is for a vast improvement, not perfection. Before you decide to have this procedure, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them fully during your detailed assessment visit. You may require further medical tests prior to a decision being made.

if I’m not suitable for this procedure?

At the time of consultation, you will receive a thorough assessment, and if for any reason you are not suitable for this procedure, you will not receive it. This may not be what you want to hear, but we would never take on any one for treatment knowing we wouldn't get a satisfactory outcome for you. The improvement from this procedure is permanent, but weight gain or use of certain drugs could result in recurrence of the enlarged breasts.
